ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Mu'awiya I ibn Abi Sufyan, AH 41-60 / AD 661-680. Pashiz (Bronze, 28 mm, 2.87 g, 7 h), possibly citing Abdallah ibn Zubayr AH 60-73 / AD 680-692, ST (Stakhr), AH 60-73 = AD 680-692. Crowned and draped Sasanian-style bust to right; behind head, 'AFZUT GDH ('may his kingship increase' in Pahlawi); before head, APDWLA AMYR-Y WRWYŠNYKAN ('Abd Allah, Commander of the Faithful' in Pahlawi); in outer margin, 'bism Allah' ('In the name of Allah'). Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; in upper field to left, star; in upper field to right, crescent; to right, ST (the name of the mint) in Pahlawi; to left, illegible legend in Pahlawi.
